Every other Monday this winter and early spring at Arabella we're be teaming up with local artists and creatives to bring you some fun hands-on workshops where you can learn a new skill.

Our April 8th workshop is Handbuliding Pottery with Noni of No Crafts!

Noni (she/her) of No Crafts is a ceramic and stained glass artist from Kitchener, ON. Noni specializes in stained glass pet portraits and custom ceramic projects. Noni has been engaging with creativity from young age, but learned to love ceramics in highschool. Noni is working towards becoming an art therapist and is especially interested in offering community-based art therapy. When she isn't engaging with her artist self you can find Noni practicing community-based Social Work and volunteering with Toronto Cat Rescue.

Handbuilding with Noni Vatish

In this workshop, Noni will go over basic handbuilding skills and offer infographics to follow along. She will touch on a little bit of the science behind pottery so as to provide a greater capacity to understand subsequent instructions and the creation of pieces. She will also cover clay safety and clean up protocols.

In this workshop you will learn:
  • scratch and attach
  • coil building
  • slab building
  • how to smooth & finish a piece
  • painting with underglaze & final touches
Noni will be providing hands on assistance throughout the workshop to answer questions, assist with techniques, and help your visions come to life! There will also be the opportunity to go over more advanced techniques if time allows.
At the end of the workshop, Noni will be gathering contact information for pick-up arrangements. Participants can expect pieces to be ready for pick-up approx 3 weeks following the workshop. Details will be provided at the workshop.

Cost for the workshop is $30 and includes a 5oz draught pour or non-alcoholic option and supplies. There are 15 spots available, so be sure to reserve yours soon so you don’t miss out!

Please note the workshops will be taking place in our mezzanine that is up a switchback set of stairs.
